Wreck It Ralph Review

Amazing. Simply amazing. I don't even know where to start. I, like many, was pretty skeptical when I heard some of my favorite videogame character was gonna appear in a Disney movie. I haven't seen too many of their stuff recently, but rarely do I hear too much good coming out of Disney. I dare anyone to say something negative about this one though. There's just so much win!

Okay, so of course we all know the basic story. Ralph's a "bad guy", but would really like some more appreciation. He goes out of his way to get it, but things go wrong, and he's gotta go on some adventure to earn his respect, making some friends along the way. Yeah, the story's really nothing original, but what is these days? When is a movie ever gonna pull off a big M Night twist these days? Just put that aside, and lets enjoy  everything else that's going on.

It's REALLY clear that Disney was target the gamer crowd. Old and young. There was literally something there for gamers of all ages.  From the old days of Kubert, to today's Call of Duty crowd. Speaking of COD, there's another original game in there, which basically combines it with Halo and Gears of War. Seriously, the gaming references were just over the top. They even had the Konami code. The cameos were really fun. Sonic, Chun-Li, Ryu, Kano. There was even a nice indirect one from Metal Gear Solid. The only thing I'm dissappointed in was that there was no Megaman.... Come on Capcom! There nothing but a mere sound bite of MMX's buster charging up, but that's it. Do you really hate the guy that bad guys?

Agh. Anyways. So the comedy was really good. Great really. All the ones with, and without the gaming references. Just perfect. Something that just makes me so mad though, is there was a scene that made me nearly cry. How dare they!? There is a scene in there that I actually found sadder than when Ash got turned to stone in the first Pokemon movie. I was overly hyped throughout the entire thing, until that came on. Just why!? I'm sure anyone who finally sees it will know exactly what I'm talking about. Just make sure to bring tissue.

So yeah, that's about it. This is literally the best movie I've seen in a long time. Possibly the best, ever. I joked with my friend, saying I wasn't gonna care at all for it, other than the Sonic The Hedgehog cameos, but  turns out, I was in for a surprise. Kudos to to whoever came up with this crazy idea.

Artist Spotlight: Hylajaponica

So I happened to stumble upon this artist yesterday, while browsing Da. Looked at just one of his pics, and it was an instant follow. He specializes in vehicle art, mainly aircrafts, and they are all just stunning. So naturally when I saw his underwhelming view-counts, I was disappointed. Then I got pretty upset as I went on, and checked out the rest of his amazing work.

He's been on DA, for about 4 years now, and the first piece in his gallery, has only 761 views. Excuse me. What!? Why are people paying this guy no mind? I understand he doesn't take advantage of the groups feature, which is to help show your work to a specific audience, but still. Why in the world does this: Link, a simple screenshot, get more veiws than this: Link!? I just don't understand.

I've had my rants with the DA community in the past, with some friends, but looking at this situation, makes realize it's even more out of hand. Apparently, unless you're doing some pop culture fan-art, or taking pics of tits and vagina's, you're not getting anywhere on the site. It's been the case with me, but I always figure that I'm not that good, though some would argue otherwise.  This really should not be.

Anyways, back to the artist. Well, what more can I say about him? The work's amazing, and really needs more recognition. Check out the rest of his gallery.

Steve Jobs Doll

And this is why our world needs help. It's pretty obvious that I'm not an Apple fanboy in the least, however I still have great respect for the company, and was among those paying my respects to Steve Jobs, over his recent passing, but then I ultimately just got sick to death of hearing

Google to release their own tablet?

Is this even necessary? So according to Gizmodo, google is set to release their own tablet, under the Nexus name. Why? They've already got everyone else making tablets and phones for them, and there is just WAY too many of them out there already. Really all of them do the same thing by running android, so their only differences are power, and design, so what happens when someone releases yet another tablet with a little more power, and a sleeker design? Just seems like a waste, but you know the fans will eat it up.

SOPA

This video's basically a documentary of people SOPA will have an effect on. The Channel Awesome community is a group of content creators found on the thatguywiththeglasses website. Their job is to take material found in pop culture today and give their opinion on the faults of them in Satirical ways, most notably the Nostalgia Critic who reviews movies from his childhood. Of course all their videos contain copyrighted material, which are always sighted in the end credits. Despite this, if SOPA is to pass, all their videos will probably be banned, and they will be out of their job. Most of these reviewers came from crappy lives like us, and found their dream careers in this medium. If congress is to take it away, they're left with literally nothing. How can they let that happen?

This bill will cause unemployment in a country ridden with a ton of jobless men and women, and cause depression among them, and even those like me who just use these things as a minor hobby. As a huge fan of sites like this, I've actually been hoping to pursue a career in this, having recently sent in an application the Channel Awesome's sister site Blisteredthumbs.net, as a gaming news contributor. What say I were hired today, then a few hours later, the bill passes and I'm immediately out of work. Where is the justice in that?

The worst part about all this, is, that there is very little hope for us, seeing as the house is so full of incompetents. Many hae admitted they have no idea what is on the bill, nor how the internet even works. Why are we even leaving the state of our country in the hands of these people? It's really scary considering, cause of one point that was made, on how with the limited use of search engines like google, we cannot even track down suspicious activities like websites made by terrorists, in order recruit more of them, or plan attacks.

Fact of the matter is, even if this goes through, online piracy will not cease, cause when you look at it, you can take away a pirates ship, but it doesn't stop them from being a pirate. They'll just stow away on another, and go off from there. This really must be stopped. Now!

MIB 3

So the trailer finally dropped, and I must say, it does look interesting. Of course, I was one of those guys who were like "meh" when news hit that it existed, and could even care less that they were also shooting by my school City Tech earlier this year. Thing is, I lost all touch with movies recently due to how much cliche crap that has been coming out recently, and rarely are the third incarnations of something too much of a hit, but this movie seems like it wants to do something other movies have failed to do.

Apparently time traveling is the theme here, which seems pretty out of place from the previous movies. There's a new threat hitting the earth, which of course only Agent K knows of, and Agent J is left out of the loop. Then all of a sudden, K goes missing, and reality's been altered to the point where he's apprently been dead for about 40 years yet J remember's him being alive. Now J's gotta head back in time to find his K's younger self, and figure out wtf is going on.

It'll be interesting to see how the franchise can hold up after all these years. Most of us were little kids when the second movie came out back in 02. Now how will everything look through our adult eyes today? Lets see.

PSA's: How they should be

This little video popped up the other day, and while it does speak a deep powerful message to me, it also kinda makes me laugh. Not because I can't take Sammy too seriously after seeing him teaming up with super heroes, but because of the irony of it. Normally one can't really take a PSA seriously, cause they're always trying to convey the most serious message in the most light-hearted way. Like when we were kids, and they kept putting non-smoking messages in our cartoons, or people acting silly when it comes to drunk driving. Sam doesn't have that. This is a "sit down, shut your mouth, and listen" talk, and when he talks, you've gotta listen. Honestly, I think more groups should use Jackson for their PSA. Don't even have to pay money for graphics, or shoot images. All the details are laid out right there.

Pages

Google Plus has finally released their own fan-page service, simply called "Pages". So we all know what that means. Fake pages. So many businesses have already jumped on like Macy's, H&M, Pepsi. Even entertainment companies like DC and Marvel, and music artists like Linkin Park. However, a lot of fakes have turned up, most noticeably ones for Doctor Who. Fans last night were confused which page was the actual one, that is until "John Smith" (A fan using The Doctor's clones name, posting news about the show for the fans) shared the official page. This is something that severely cluttered facebook and myspace, to the point where the official brands had to go through extra measures, and special naming to set up their pages, and now it's hit G+. Hopefully the site will find ways around this, and keep it as clean as possible. So now what does facebook have over this? I know I'e ranted on facebook before, but really, I had no choice but to stay. It's has its conveniences, but now G+ is getting them. So what is really going to make people stay? Right now, I think the one thing they have over Google right now is its games. From since the time Google started putting games on the site, they haven't had much support, aside from Rovio and PopCap. Facebook's still got the most support from Zynga, but Zynga in a foolish move is attempting to break away from them, run their service for their games, so when that happens, where does facebook go? Sure The Sims has beating out Farm and Cityville, but with just that, who's really gonna care? Lets see where this all goes.

Space is the Place

So the world population's finally reached 7 billion. Wow! People have been getting freaky. It's kind of scary, cause now it makes you aware overpopulation. China's already got a problem with their numbers, and America's really getting hit hard with the severe lack of jobs and proper homes. The heck're we gonna do? It's amazing how certain religious arguments, especially in my home and church state that our species is gonna die out because of the rise of open homosexuality, but clearly we're still doing fine. I'm not saying we should stop screwing around, but I think we should really stop screwing around. Only in the sense that we're seriously wasting time, money, resources, and talent only making innovations in new weapons. I mean we already missed out on so many expectations for last year. Hover-boards, human-alien relations, flying cars, holographic television. We've still got some time for some space colonies.

Seriously. Living in space? It's gotta happen. It's been touched upon so much. Power Rangers, almost any video game involving space, anime's, (most notably Gundam) comic books. Anyone who's into pop culture already knows, and loves the idea. So what're you waiting for Houston?

The benefits are already there practically smacking you in the face. Think about it:

-Immediately solves the population problem. The more people who're willing to invest in these new colonies, already narrows down the head-count. Of course there are only going to be very few exclusives who are first to settle, but eventually the costs will decline, and the numbers can rise.

Cleaner air. We wont have to deal all the crazy pollution we've built up here on earth. Not at first at least. In any case however, we'll be surrounded by a giant vacuum, so we can easily just filter out any pollutants from time to time once things get bad.

Global warming no longer a factor. Whatever the case may be that is causing global warming will be a thing of the past. There's no ozone layer to screw up, and we'll have temperature control. No more unexpected snow days in October for us. We can make our own snow days!

A new start. Of course each colony is going to be a part of whatever country launches them, but it'll be a great chance to work on so many changes. New laws, massive profit from tourism, and better means of socializing.

The rise of Innovates! Innovator's, New-types, whatever you wanna call it. Anyone who's watched a Gunda series knows, life in space brings about a new evolution in humans, upping our mental awareness. Face it. We're practically still apes, only less hairy, but a lot lazier. Time we stepped up, and this is almost guaranteed.

So of course there are a ton of more benefits that aren't covered, like longer lifespans due to space time, but these are just some points. Feel free to share your own, and your thoughts on the idea.
