Wreck It Ralph Review

Amazing. Simply amazing. I don't even know where to start. I, like many, was pretty skeptical when I heard some of my favorite videogame character was gonna appear in a Disney movie. I haven't seen too many of their stuff recently, but rarely do I hear too much good coming out of Disney. I dare anyone to say something negative about this one though. There's just so much win!

Okay, so of course we all know the basic story. Ralph's a "bad guy", but would really like some more appreciation. He goes out of his way to get it, but things go wrong, and he's gotta go on some adventure to earn his respect, making some friends along the way. Yeah, the story's really nothing original, but what is these days? When is a movie ever gonna pull off a big M Night twist these days? Just put that aside, and lets enjoy  everything else that's going on.

It's REALLY clear that Disney was target the gamer crowd. Old and young. There was literally something there for gamers of all ages.  From the old days of Kubert, to today's Call of Duty crowd. Speaking of COD, there's another original game in there, which basically combines it with Halo and Gears of War. Seriously, the gaming references were just over the top. They even had the Konami code. The cameos were really fun. Sonic, Chun-Li, Ryu, Kano. There was even a nice indirect one from Metal Gear Solid. The only thing I'm dissappointed in was that there was no Megaman.... Come on Capcom! There nothing but a mere sound bite of MMX's buster charging up, but that's it. Do you really hate the guy that bad guys?

Agh. Anyways. So the comedy was really good. Great really. All the ones with, and without the gaming references. Just perfect. Something that just makes me so mad though, is there was a scene that made me nearly cry. How dare they!? There is a scene in there that I actually found sadder than when Ash got turned to stone in the first Pokemon movie. I was overly hyped throughout the entire thing, until that came on. Just why!? I'm sure anyone who finally sees it will know exactly what I'm talking about. Just make sure to bring tissue.

So yeah, that's about it. This is literally the best movie I've seen in a long time. Possibly the best, ever. I joked with my friend, saying I wasn't gonna care at all for it, other than the Sonic The Hedgehog cameos, but  turns out, I was in for a surprise. Kudos to to whoever came up with this crazy idea.

Yatagarasu: An Indie Fight Game, Coming to 3DS

Game Logo
When the 3DS came out last year, there was a quite an oversaturation of fighting games coming to the handheld. From Street Fighter, to Tekken. Seemed like pretty much everyone wanted to get there fighter on the device. Why not? It's was the perfect system for it at the time, considering you can walk around without and just challenge people you meet, without having to worry about internet lag, or some thirteen hiding behind their screen, trying to trash talk you.

All that died down though, when the Vita was getting ready to release, allowing for higher quality visuals, and probably better online support. Sucks, cause we're missing out on Street Fighter X Tekken. Flawed as the game's been upon release, I really enjoy, and would've loved to see it on 3DS. No Skullgirls, or Persona 4 Arena either. Biggest dump was the announcenment of Marvel VS Capcom Origins, with absolutely no Nintendo support whatsoever. Totally unfair, no matter how I look at it, cause MVC 1 is my favorite in the vs series.

But Yeah. Finally, the 3DS is getting a new fighting game, from an indie developer, Edge Circle, and produced by Cave Story developer, Nicalis. Best part is, they're comprised of three EX-SNK members, and is based on the Street Fighter 3 Third Strike engine, so you'll have parry's, ex's, and multi-level supers. Sounds very promising to me.  The character designs look pretty awesome too. Still has that anime look that nobody can seem to get out of, but still good none-the-less.

I wonder if it'll have have shortcut options, like in SSF4 3D. A little cheap to some people, I know, but some of those moves are pretty difficult to pull off with the circle pad. It's a four button fighter though, so maybe that'll help in some way. Definitely be on the lookout for this one when it hits the eShop sometime later this year. For more details, check out Nicalis' Blog.

Here's an interview with one of the developers.

Final Fight X Resident Evil

Sprite by Steamboy33
So this totally came out of Nowhere, but think about it. A Final Fight style beat-em-up, where in all the civilians and Mad Gear gang members have been infected with the T-Virus. It'll take place right after the Raccoon city incident, which isn't so far away from Metro, so possible a few infected animals, or humans escaped there, before the place got nuked.

The story would start off with an Outbreak in Metro City, and all things to to hell. Cody, while in Jail, see's the chaos going on outside, and figures it looks like "some fun" and breaks out of his cell. Naturally, he runs into Guy, and they team up.

Chris and Jill, on their journey to expose Umbrella for their crimes, find their way to the city, and find themselves caught within the outbreak. They run into Poison and Hugo, who are deathly terrified of the zombies, and are unable to do a thing. They're saved by the pair, and agree to act as guides, who can possibly lead them to a hidden umbrella facility.

Both teams would later on meet up, Guy and Cody not too willing to trust Poison and Hugo, but agree to help out anyways. They later run into Rolento, who sees the outbreak as the perfect oppurtunity to create his "Utopia". He tries fighting the team at first, but realizing he has no way to control the zombies, joins them, stating they will need a "good tactical leader" if they want to survive, and that if they do "well enough" he may recruit them into his army. Figuring they'll need all the help they can get, and not wanting to leave any survivor behind, they agree to let him tag along.

So these are just a few ideas from off the top of my head. Things can be improved, but tell me this concept wouldn't work. Things in Capcom games don't really get to far-fetched for this to not be impossible. Come on guys, lets get this story out into the wild! Final Fight needs to be revived, and Resident Evil's possibly about to finish soon, and fans are gonna be dying for more, so why not!?

Oculus Rift Makes Virtual Reality... A Reality

So we've all seen it. This inevitable future in gaming. It's in like ever science fiction flick ever. Back to the Future, Tron, and even an episode of Captain Planet. The tech's always been way ahead of our time, but it's already 2012 dammit! BTTF promised we were supposed to get it at least two years ago, but no. It's also rather annoying, considering how the big names don't wanna give us anything new, except better graphics and performance, but with less freedom. Now, from one lone hobbyist, comes the start of the invention we've ALL been waiting for.

The Oculus Rift is the first ever virtual reality headset design for videogames. We've already got the technology, out in the wild, but they don't exactly work too well, considering the low resolution, and latency in motion tracking, but finally, the OR is here to do some justice. Best part is we've already got some big names, the biggest outside of Japan really, already backing it. Valve, ID, and Epic are all putting work into this device, dying to see this baby come to life.

Despite this though, it's still gonna need your support. I mean of course. Where will the device be without its audience? There's a Kickstarter up, (Yes, that again.) asking for a goal of $250,000 by Sept 1st. Of course, like all awesome projects that go up there, it's already surpassed double it's goal in just a few hours, but don't let that discourage you. The more cash they get may help speed development, improve the technology, or maybe even keep the price down. Come on guys, lets make the happen!

Optimal Gaming

Not sure how this blog suddenly exploded recently, but hey, can't complain. Except for the fact that I've moved  most of my attention to another blog. Realizing that I've had such a big focus on game on this blog, I figured, I start one for such a thing, exclusively, thus Optimalgaming.blogspot.com was born. Basically, there I report gaming news, whatever I find most interesting out of the day. I'm also planning on starting a Lets Play series with some friends, and maybe do a few skits, if any of them get their act together and start helping out. So, for anyone interesting, please check us out, comment, share with your friends, and most importantly, enjoy!

I'll definitely be back, soon as things pick up there though.

Final Fantasy XV?

Dow we really need it? Like honestly. I know the process for making a new Final Fantasy game has been a helluva lot slower between the last few titles, but I think that was probably for a reason. If anything, they should really take longer in order to flesh out a decent story, and find away to integrate an open world again. Luckily, sources say it should be coming to the Wii U, so with more power there, there's hope. Of course it'll come to the other successors as well, PS4, and the new Xbox, so even more content can go on those. I'm curious as to how they may implemt the touchscreen controller on the Wii U though. Maybe they'll put menus and maps on the screen, so we can enjoy the beautiful environments uninterrupted on the the television screen, or maybe allow for a different point of view during fights, or whatever.

Well, here's hoping. The game is supposed to be announced at E3 2012.

Sony Does It Again

Yep. It's exactly what you're thinking. The Vita has just recently launched in Japan, and already there are reports of hardware malfunctions. Remind you of something? Ala, PS3? Seriously. Why can't companies get these things right? You either get it right, or you delay, delay, delay, til you get it right. How often do you hear of Nintendo's products screwing up?

Sigh. Hopefully they fix everything by the time it's ready for other regions.

Pokemon, Shogun Style?

So this little number just pooped up in my newsfeed on facebook.

I must say, It looks fantastic. Typically a lot of fans have been asking for a game where the player actually controlls their Pokemon, and it looks like this is it. Although, I'm disapointed that it's on the DS and I'd really love to see more support on the 3DS, (Btw, US ambassadors, check the e-shop. Your GBA games have arrived.) but hey. Just leaves more room for bigger titles. I'm excited to hear more about this game, and hope it makes it across shores.

The Nintendo Factor

I'm so tired of people bashing Nintendo, and suggesting the direction they should be going in, namely sites like IGN. It seems like everyday someone just wants to take a swing at them, and it's really old. Understandably, they didn't have to nice a start this year, the Wii has pretty much been off the record until recently, but that does not in any way reflect their future.

The launch of the 3DS was pretty much a disaster, and even I admit, I was upset myself. I'm not exactly a "hardcore"Nintendo fan, having recently switched more to the PC, but I had to get my 3DS at launch. It was a Nintendo handheld, which as never disappointed before. I loved my Gameboys, and my DS, so what harm could the next one do? Rape my wallet, and leave me with only one game in my library til August. Didn't help either when they announced the price drop, and poor compensation for suckers like me. (Btw, check out the full list of GBA titles said to hit.) At that point, I pretty much was ready to give up, but I got over it, after realizing, this isn't even the first time Nintendo's been in trouble like this. Just gotta hold out.

So of course seeing a situation like this, everything just wants to bash their next console, the Wii U. Something most of them have have never even gotten their hands on, nor even seen the full capabilities of. So how in the world is that fair? And again, everyone is just look at one very minor aspect of it. It's graphics. Yes, the Wii U bosts very high def graphics, and no, they may not compare to the rest of the next gen consoles, but that's not what the system is about. It's controller not only acts as a screen itself, but it's also Nintendo's own little tablet. Granted it's not gonna be used for everyones traveling buddy, but look at the vast majority of things tablets can do, and combine that with a full fledged gaming system. It's like everyone ignored the entire trailer, and focused on the one thing they always wanted out of the Wii.

Now what everyone is saying Nintendo should do is take Sega and Atari's route and just develop games for other consoles and phones. Like seriously? Were that to happen, we're just left with Apple, Microsoft, and Sony to make any new hardware. Honestly, when the hell have any of those companies made anything original? Everything one of them are hanging on to Nintendo's success with their hardware. They made it first, and they made it best. Apple takes from Nintendo's handhelds, Sony and Microsoft takes from everything Nintendo has done.

Nintendo is the leading innovator in gaming. Without them, the gaming world would be nothing, and I'm not just talking about them reviving the gaming industry after the crash, but to what they've been doing up until today. Kinect and move wouldn't exist today without them, so how in the world would there move publishing work out? Literally, if they were to leave, all new consoles would just boast better graphics from generation to generation. The iPhone doesn't do anything new, and andandoroid just waits on apple. So where will gaming go? Think about it.

Gamers selling out.

So I recently happened upon the article...

So this is what the gaming worlds become. Paying others to help rack up points to gain achievements. I understand us gamers don't get enough support, and can use all the cash we can get to buy more games and better hardware, but this is just low. The client's even worse, cause how much of a noob do you have to be to feel the need to pay money for your own personal meat shield. Whatever happened to learning the curbs, and working on your own skill? This is pretty much on the level of, or possibly even worse than hiring someone to take an important exam for you.

Kid Icarus finally has a release date.

It's about time! Kid Icarus Uprising was pretty much the first 3DS game shown off at E3 2010, and it got even everyone smiling. I've never actually played the original game, nor would I care to, and I can't stand people who use the character in Brawl, but the trailer is what got me really excited for the 3DS. The thing looked like an actual console game, and it was pretty much my favorite genre, action-adventure. Unfortunately, news went out that it wasn't gonna be a launch title, and there wasn't even a release date by the time the handheld did launch, and not even one at E3 where the second trailer was shown.

Thanks for the huge middle finger Nintendo. Now finally, a whole year after the 3DS was released, the game is set to hit shelves on March 27, 2012. This, had better be the be the best handheld game ever, otherwise heads will spin. Judging from the new trailer (which is just the E3 one in english) it looks to have potential. NYC'res should mark the date too, cause StreetPass NYC promises to have something planned.

OnLive on the Xperia Play. No controller necessary.

So something I didn't mention before about the OnLiveapp for android and ios was that there were very few games that would actually work without the universal controller, though that's a big duh since a touchscreen is nothing compared to a physical controller. However, what say you don't wanna go about buying a $50 controller? I know I don't, or can't really. Not that I even have a device anyway. Now possibilities are arriving to make that happen.

Now from the hacker community to the app developer community, someone has made an app exclusively for the Xperia Play, Sony's little PSP phone, that will allow games previously unable to be played without a controller playable on the device. The Play doesn't really get much love from the mobile community, despite it being the more dedicated device for gaming in the android market. Really out of the ridiculous amounts of phones out there that run the same OS, I find it the best, but ah well.

So far the only games compatible with the app are DiRT 3, and LEGO Batman, but surely there is more to come. Plus, LEGO Batman comes free to anyone who download the OnLive app via android, so it gives you something to play while more games are worked on. Pretty neat. So head over and pick up the app if you've actually got an Xperia Play, and enjoy.

Mrs. Violence.

Congrats to Kelly Kelley a.k.a Mrs. Violence on her teams victory on GameSpot's The Controller. For anyone who doesn't know, The Controller is a miniseries where where professional gamers and noobs team up to compete in events in order to win cash prizes. This season had only two female competitors, a gamer, and a non-gamer.

For the competition, teams had to compete in various challenges to stay in. One physical, for the gamers, and the other was playing multplayer in BattleField 3, for the non-gamers. From the first episode, it was apparent that Mrs. Violence was gonna be the underdog of the competition, having done poorly in the very first physical round, forcing her to pick her partner last. Didn't help either that the Red Teams non-gamer Edgar was a natural behind a controller, and pretty much owned at physical challenges (the ones that didn't require a brain that is.)

In the end howerver, when it came down to both teams in the final competition, not only did her team triumph, but her final score owned everyone in the final match. Just another case of the underdog coming out on top yet again. Admittedly, I only was rooting for this team since the beginning, cause I liked their colors, dark blue, and I thought Kelly was pretty cute. Matter of fact that's kinda what kept me hooked on the series, since I really don't like shooter, and I, like a few others, just saw Battlefield 3 as just another cash-in, but as I got into things and saw the interactions between the teams, the craziness of some of the physical challenges, and how much these noobs can improve their game within a week. In the end, I must say. It turned out to be pretty enjoyable

Now I'm on the lookout for more more shows like this, and am better aware that there are actually gamer girls out there I can better relate to. A lot of us guys know how difficult it is to get a girl to understand our gaming needs. To see that we actually have female counterparts out there who can sympathize is a relief.

Everyone should go check out Mrs. Violence. She's on Facebook, and Twitter. Unfortunately no Google + yet. Root for her at the MLG's, and check her out on The Controller.

Metal Gear Rising.... Arises?

So after it's little debut back in 09 Metal Gear Solid fi... Rising kinda fell off the charts. Basically the game was an answer to all the little Raiden fan-girls where he'd get his own game implementing his cyborg ninja form from MGS 4. The possiblity of the game was actually hinted back in the MGS 3 extras, after a hilarious mini-sode where Raiden failed to kill Big Boss in order to make sure he got Snakes spot in the fourth game. His girlfriend Rose tries to cheer him up, pointing out he still has a chance at starring in MGS 5.

The 2009 E3 trailer was brief, but it showed off the main mechanic of the game. REALISTIC NINJA STYLE SWORD CUTTING ACTON!!!!!!!!! Boy did that stuff look bad-ass. After that, we never really heard much more from it. Until Last night at the VGA's where a new trailer was released, but with a little surprise. During the little credit section of the trailer, it was revealed that the game was being developed by Platinum Games. Makes sense, cause the trailer does have some Bayonetta-esque visuals on the fighting gameplay.

So what does this mean for the game? Platinum's got some great games, Bayonetta, Madworld, and Vanquish, but how comfortable would the fans be having their series handled by a foreign developer? One has to wonder, but clearly Kojima saw this as a necessity. Lets see how this goes.

Btw, the trailer is EPIC!

Tablets find their purpose via OnLive

Yeah, I know that title sounds rather biased, but whatever. So as I've talked about OnLive before, it's a really great service for those wishing to play high end PC games via their cloud service on any PC or Mac. Now they're opening their doors to tablets and smartphones, which before only allowed one to watch someone else's play session.

So now tablet and smartphone users aren't limited to basic html5 games on their devices now, and can actually play some decent games other than Angry Birds. Definitely worth getting a tablet for now if it means I can play Saints Row and Arkahm City on the go. I'd definitely get one.

The App is available today on IOS, and Android for free.

Mario Bros Wii U

Course it's not real, but this is a great demonstration of what the games can look like on the new system. I really love the design. It's gritty, but doesn't stray too far away from the source material with this cartoony style. We've never gotten to see how realistic Nintendo can make Mario look. Sure if you look at some of their pre-rendered work, the textures look great, but we all know there's so much more that can be done with it, like in the Smash Bros games where the brothers are in jeans, and Mario's fireballs look pretty realistic. That's the kind of thing I'd like to see more of in their new games. Could be sweet.

I also love the BP signs and oil coming out of the pipes. As a real plumber, you just know that's all Mario should be dealing with. Forget the Princess. Save the ocean! Hey, that could be an interesting story idea. instead of having Mario explored new worlds and galaxies, he should travel to Atlantis or something, and go save their princess. Interesting...

Well, I'm off to go pitch my ideas to Nintendo now. See ya.

Why Saints Row: The Third deserves Game of the Year

Or at least a nomination. So when I first saw this game on its surface, I couldn't care less about about it. I thought pretty much what everyone else thought. Another GTA clone.Didn't help that I was never much a GTA fan either. What later caught my eye though were its amazing customizable options. I actually never heard a wink about the first two games, so of course it came as a surprise. Then I saw some gameplay, where the demonstrator at E3 pulled out a dildo, beat a lady and then flew off in a jet. Mind. Blown.

Immediately I just knew this wasn't just gonna be another cash-in title. Then the commercials and trailers started piling on. Zombie fights in a bathrobe, whored mode, crotch punches? "Where's my copy already!?" I thought to myself. Of course I pretty much knew I wasn't getting the game anytime around the time of it's release, due to the lack of money, and a console for it, but I was sure gonna look out for it wherever possible. Luckily however, OnLive turned all the around, and I've been able to play it.

Thing is, I haven't been able to get very far withing the game, due to the fact that my internet is terrible, and I can only play in small sessions, and I can't help but waste time and explore, but from just that, I feel like I can't give the game a really good word. Honestly, this title seems like a necessary addition to the roster of games that've been coming out recently, with all the war shooters, and deep over-dramatized titles. The game adds no form of innovation to gameplay, but sure does give a really different gaming experience.

So here are some reasons why I feel the title of this article is justified:

Solid Gameplay: Like I said, there's nothing really innovative with the gameplay. Pretty much anything you've seen or have done in GTA is right here, but the fact that it works is what's important. We all know what happens when you play a game that makes you fight it just to play. Of course though, I've had issues due to having to use a keyboard and mouse, but I'm quickly getting used to it, almost don't miss the tradition controller at all. Still can't top dual analogs, or a touchscreen though.

Story: While not the best story out there, especially compared to some other titles that have launched alongside it recently, but the fact that there's something there is really awesome. So many times have I been turned off from a game because I just could not be engrossed by it's story, * cough* FF13 *cough* but this game just throws you directly in, like an action movie, and you're pumped right from the start.

Good Pacing: I recently sat down to play a friends copy of Sonic Generations and noticed something I really hated about the new Sonic games. They make players look like idiots. Why is it that we have to go through so many tutorial levels, just to start playing the game? It's really simple. Sonic runs forward, jumps on robots to make them explode to into cute little animals, and the level is finished once you reach the end. "Oh word? You added in some new mechanics? Cool. lemme just check the manual. Wait, where the hell is the manual!?" I'm serious. They skipped out on the manual. It's like just for pages, with nothing important it. WTF? What happened to the days where we would get these oversized manuals with character bios, and gameplay instuctions. Oh no. You have to unlock the bios, and to learn the controls? You've gotta listen to Omachoa. Yeah, cause we really missed Him! You never see that in the Smash Bros games. They just throw you right into subspace, and tell you to fight. Don't know how? Read the big-ass manual that came with the game! Ugh.

So thankfully SR3 doesn't do that to you, and throws you right into the fight, where you've gotta take down the bank staff, then protect your gangs helicopter from the police while you ride on top of the vault you're trying to haul away. Epic! No stopping to learn how to pull a trigger, how to run, or dive-bomb that big dude in front of you. Find out yourself.

Characters have character: I can't stand stories who just give you your protagonist, and place a few side characters here and there, just for the sake of it. Each of these characters actually have their on personality, and story to them, and they interact off each other, including your character. There's one mission in the game where your character, and one of the other Saints are hanging out, and the two of them are singing along to the radio. The interaction between them is so realistic, making it obvious they didn't just pull up any random person, and asked them to speak.

Nice Break from reality: So of course, when you hear that you're a gang boss, it just sounds like another immoral game glorifying violence, but it's far from that. Yes, there is a ton of violence, but it doesn't take itself seriously in that aspect. Like I said. You get to carry around a giant dildo, and even throw toilet paper as a projectile. Real gangs aren't gonna do that in our society. Matter of fact, you can't expect to see any of the things seen in this game to happen in real life. Who the hell jumps out of a helicopter, parachuting down to a penthouse party by themselves, in order to activate an elevator let your crew in? Your character does. Did I also mention you can run around naked and go streaking? Yep. It can happen here.

Awesome customization options: As I said, the ability to customize was what first caught my eye about this game. I always like that in a game. Helps me connect even more with my character, unlike other games that just give you this "handsome American guy that we're all supposed to aspire to be." Not that I don't like those games, but I prefer the ability to believe it's really me doing all these awesome things. The options they give you are incredible. You can customize your build, skin tone, facial structure, everything. It's kinda like playing around with 3D designing software on your computer really. When people play this game, no two players are going to look alike. You can even go as far as to forget looking like yourself, and make characters from other media. I actually saw someone make The Joker once, or just be like everyone else, and swap genders and create your fetish. No limits.

I've gone on way too much with this, but really this game has so much to offer. A whole lot of other things I haven't covered, or even gotten to do yet. Really, this is one amazing game, and I feel it deserves so much more credit than it's gotten. I've never seen it score higher than an 8.5, and it probably hasn't even sold anywhere close to half the numbers of Modern Warfare 3, or pretty much any of the other AAA titles that have come out recently, and I find that disappointing. It really deserves more credit than it's given, just because it's not a war or sports title.

OnLive: Possible Future of Gaming.

So finally, after getting bombarded ad, after ad, after AD, I finally decided to try out the new OnLive gaming serivce, after seeing their little special about getting your first game for a buck. Yes, you can get your first game for a buck right now. Hurry up and get it now, then come back. (or don't, if you're already convinced I guess) I've been really dying to get my hands on Saints Row: The Third for the longest while now, but couldn't due to insufficient funds, and the lack of a proper gaming platform to play on. In comes this awesome service offering the game for nothing, and telling me I don't need some high end computer to work it. The heck was I gonna say?

So for the rare few who don't know, OnLive is a cloud service that allows you to play practically any high end PC game off their own personal servers. All you need is your average everyday PC or Mac, and you're good to go. Only set-backs to it though is that If you have an unreliable internet connection like I do (at the time I'm writing this, I'm sharing the same connection with about five other devices on a DSL service) you're not going to have the best time. The worse your conncetion gets, the less quality you're going to get out of them, down to the point where you get no images at all, and have no idea what is going. There's no lag at all when everything's together though. Every single click I made when I was able to play gave me an immediate response, as if I was playing off my own device.

So just from those few little tests I'm really liking this service. I can only blame any issue on my terrible service and my families refusal to listen to the one techey in the house and get some better service. I really hope it gets a lot more support from gaming companies in the future, so that we may all be able to enjoy the same gaming experience despite not being able to afford or maintain a high-end gaming PC for whatever reason. Don't even need any discs, and you wont get stuck with downloading a game for so many hours, or having insufficient space on your hard drive. Why not?

Final Fantasy VII 3D?

So for years now, there's been a TON of demand for a remake of the Playstation classic Final Fantasy VII. Wasn't helped when they showed off a little tech demo using the opening scene from the original game as an example of the PS3's power, back when the system was getting ready to release. Fans saw it as a hint that the game would be hitting the console as a launch title, but alas. Nothing. Except we got the long awaited, yet disappointing XIII, soon its sequal, another bad MMO, and an HD re-release of X. Sigh... However, there is hope! Just not in the form most people desire.

Rumor has it that there just may be a remake of the game on the 3DS! Yes, let the "Booing" commence. This comes from an anonymous source:
"…a remix version of the 7th game of a famous (J)RPG series, and will sell half year later of a spin-off game of the series."

Makes sense right? Theatrhythm Final Fantasy is soon to release in February of next year. It's a spin-off rhythm of the series, meaning, six months later in August, FF VII may just see a release. It's the seventh installment in the Final Fantasy series, so why not? Some say it could also Be Dragon Quest VII also, but  I doubt it, plus I don't know how you can modernize the craziness of that game.

Not sure how a 3D remake of FF VII would do much for the game though. They'd have to completely restyle the gameplay scenes to make it look too good. The cutscenes can be completely redone in CGI, and imagine how it would look as Cloud looks upon Shinra in the distance. Wow-factor now that I think of it. Yeah, this would be really great on the handheld. Imagine playing the motor-cycle mini-game using the gyroscope to move around, while you hit the shoulder buttons to swing Clouds sword, or using the touch screen to defend Fort Condor. The possibilities are endless! I want this now!

Any retro gaming geeks out there know, the game was originally supposed to be on the Nintendo 64, but since Nintendo decided to stick with cartridges, and the Disk Drive never made it out of Japan, it wasn't happening, so they wen t with Sony's system, (which was originally owned by Nintendo, til they stole it) which allowed for more storage on multiple discs. This could just be Square's method of giving back to the fans who were left out. The FF III and IV remakes were excellent back on the 3DS were excellent, so why not? Let me know what you think.

Oh, and Happy Thanksgiving!

P.E.T.A = Epic Fail

So we all know P.E.T.A. Yeah, that group that thought we were supposed to take seeing Bella Swan (I can't begin to care what actresses real name is) naked seriously. Aside from that however I do support their cause. I do believe animal cruelty is wrong, and will give a bad eye to anyone I see in a fur coat, but really. They can be ridiculous sometimes. More ridiculous than a naked zombie and wolf lover? (Shouldn't they be ragging on Twilight for beastiality actually? The great the depbate in the new movie is all who's child is Bella happening, meaning she's slept with Jacob; a supposed ware-wolf.) Yes.

So finally Nintendo has released their biggest 3DS title to date, (Sales are looking pretty nice too, finally) Super Mario 3D Land. As we all know, the biggest perch of that game is the return of Mario's Tanooki suit. I personally don't really know much about the appeal of the suit, seeing as the NES days were over when I was a Kid, (Genisis all day!) but from what I've heard and seen, it's the best suit in Super Mario Bros 3. How does this relate to P.E.T.A? Doesn't at all, but of course they've gotta nit-pick, and have found it to be animal cruelty.

Basically the Tanooki suit suit is based off of the "tanuki," which is basically the Japanese name for Racoon. Mario gets the fur of the animal, is able to fly once he reaches a certain speed, and can turn into a statue, which the Japanese used to place outside of temples. It comes as a power up Mario randomly finds laying around in the game as players progress through the levels. P.E.T.A. on the other hand sees it completely differently. They believe Mario is taking Racoon's and ripping off their fur and wearing. I kid you not.

" When on a mission to rescue the princess, Mario has been known to use any means necessary to defeat his enemy — even wearing the skin of a raccoon dog to give him special powers. Tanooki may be just a “suit” in Mario games, but in real life, tanuki are raccoon dogs who are skinned alive for their fur. By wearing Tanooki, Mario is sending the message that it’s OK to wear fur."

How P.E.T.A.? How does it send such a message? First off, most people don't even know what a "Tanooki" is. Second, the one's who do, really aren't gonna think they can actually do what Mario does just by wearing some fur. Unbelievably, they've actually started a campaign to boycott sales. Even going so far as to create a game about it.

It is kinda fun actually, but seriously. Who even took the time to code this? The level design's really terrible as well. The gaps and obstacles are way too close to each other. I don't even know what to say otherwise really. The sheer stupidity kills me.
